Baxter's New Food Box (2/2008)

This is Baxter. He needed a new Food Box.

Baxter's old Food Box; the "economy" model. Note the rough-hewn charm of it's hand-made design! ;-)

I worked out the basics for the new Food Box with Google SketchUp.
What's a food box?
We have three cats. They all have different diets. I convert these boxes, which are mainly designed to contain and hide cat litter pans. Different types are available from various sources on the web. They come in different styles, materials, and colors and they make great kitty cafés. Of course we only convert NEW ones! By using various electronic cat flap products on several boxes located in different areas in our home,, we can separate our cats' eating areas so they can't eat each other's food.

Baxter's new Food Box was custom-made for him by Hawks Will Custom Woodwork. The workmanship is very nice. I have just installed the electronic cat door. Along with Baxter's magnetic collar, this arrangement prevents the other cats from being able to eat his food.
Baxter is already used to a cat door/flap, so he just goes in the box when he's hungry. I keep his food bowls full of premium cat food from Old Mother Hubbard. Their Wellness™ Brand cat food is made with human-grade natural ingredients and has never been on any pet-food recall list.

Initial inspection.

"Okay. This meets with my approval."

Yeah, it's nice. Now leave me alone while Itry it out!"

I added a light socket so I could plug in a little night-light so Baxter can see what he's eating. Later I might add a cup warmer on a timer for when I feed him canned food so he doesn't have to wait so long for it to warm up from the refrigerator.
